With the guidance of Utah State University and Summit County, we are working to adjust our guided tour program to allow for proper distancing and smaller groups. When the new guided tour program has been approved, details will be provided below. If you have questions about guided tours on the Preserve, please send an email to email@example.com. Our community’s health and safety is our primary objective, and we want to do all we can to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We look forward to taking you out onto the Preserve as soon as possible!
Join us for a nature walk on the Preserve! You will learn about wetland science, natural plant and animal species, and the history of the Swaner Preserve.
Depending upon the time of year, lucky hikers may see an abundance of birds, elk, or even nesting sandhill cranes!
Tall grass, uneven footing, and wet ground may be encountered and can be challenging for younger children and some seniors. Participants who do not wish to do the entire 1 hour and 15 minute tour are welcome to turn around at any time during the walk.
Please come prepared for outdoor conditions: Sturdy boots or shoes (close-toed) and long pants are recommended along with a water bottle.
During this tour, you will learn about the history of the Preserve as well as what kinds of plants and animals you will find during the winter. Additionally, you will have time to search for and identify animal tracks and other signs of animal life on the Preserve. This outing is appropriate for all ages and will take place on generally flat terrain with a slight uphill grade. Could be challenging for younger children and some seniors.
Please come prepared with snow gear, such as boots, snowpants, hats, gloves, coat,
and water bottle.
Snowshoes can be rented from the EcoCenter if needed - $2.50 for members, $5 for non-members.
Join us for a private, guided group tour of the Swaner Preserve by our trained naturalists.
